The Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) has been curated from community contributions since 1965, and now a global network of scientists use it every day to discover, develop, and advance science. As a non-profit organisation, our mission is to advance structural science for the public benefit — and that includes supporting the scientific community to do great work by maintaining and curating this data and providing tools to make it more usable.

Access and Deposit Structures
View the world’s collection of small-molecule organic and metal-organic crystal structures, curated since 1965 from the literature, direct deposition, as well as PhD theses, patents, and more.
Securely store your own data and ensure its usable by the global scientific community by depositing it in the CSD.
Free Software and Services
Our free software supports crystallographers and chemistry educators.
View, edit, check, and prepare .cif files of crystallography data, deposit into the CSD, or prepare images for a publication.
Educators can explore real-life 3D molecular structures to demonstrate concepts like chirality, geometry, space groups, and more. We even have a selection of lesson plans and worksheets to help.
