Chart a course to the edge of the galaxy in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.

Exploration comes with many dangers if you’re not careful. As you journey through the stars, however, there’s one thing that can mitigate that danger. Here’s our guide on how to get more Navigator’s Insight in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.

How to Increase Navigator’s Insight in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

You can get more Navigator’s Insight in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader by charting a new course or through certain random events. Bear in mind that attempting to travel to other star systems without making use of this mechanic is not recommended at all.

Each new star system that you visit allows you to click on the Chart Course button, which then pings the galactic map and reveals new paths. More importantly, this action adds +1 Navigator’s Insight to your pool.

How to Use Navigator’s Insight and Chart Courses

During Act 2, you’ll gain the ability to travel to other star systems. There’s also a new resource at the bottom of your screen, which represents Navigator’s Insight. Likewise, you’ll notice that the lines connecting star systems are color-coded based on how perilous the journey might be: Green (safe), yellow (unsafe), orange (dangerous), and red (deadly).

I advise you never to travel to another system if it’s orange/dangerous or red/deadly due to ambush battles and events that could lead to your doom. Instead, you can click on another system, as well as the numbers corresponding to how many Navigator’s Insight you’ll use. If you spend these points, you can lower the dangers when traveling.

Events That Increase Navigator’s Insight

Since you can only gain additional Navigator’s Insight whenever you use the Chart Course action for the first time on a new system, there’s a chance that you could run out. Thankfully, I was able to discover a couple of events that can trigger from time to time. Be sure to understand skill checks to make the most of these events.

  • Warp Reef: Uses the highest Lore (Xenos) skill value in your team; gain +6 Navigator’s Insight.
  • Trust the Navigator: Uses the highest Lore (Warp) skill value in your team; gain +2 Navigator’s Insight.

These events tend to be random, though I’ve noticed that the Warp Reef event can sometimes trigger in or near Langrenn’s Belt to the north of the galactic map. The Trust the Navigator event, meanwhile, might occur near the Crossroads of a Hundred Dreams and Orsellio Prophecy.

I suggest keeping a backup save when traveling to these areas just in case you stumble upon these events. This was how I was able to amass 30+ Navigator’s Insight during Act 2, and I didn’t need to worry about the resource for the rest of the campaign.
